Bhagavad Gita

  1. Describe ways in which you feel like Arjuna. I feel like Arjuna because I don’t want to do something I know I should. I don’t want to go to practice because I am being lazy, even though it will be better for me in the end. Then after I go, I feel a lot better because I did.
  2. How could you specifically apply the message of theBhagavad Gita? I could apply “doing one’s duty” to everyday life. For example homework. I do not like to do it but it is my duty to become a better student.
  3. How would the ancient Indian perspective of the Bhagavad Gita be VERY different than the 21st Century American perspective of doing one’s duty? Doing one’s duty in ancient India could be used in terms of war and to justify killing. Today it is more viewed as being a decent person and doing what you’re supposed to.
  4. Now, venture back to ancient India. Think of a way the Bhagavad Gita could be used as a tool of oppression? The leaders could convince people that it was “their duty” to do certain tasks, like murder, when it is just for the oppressor. They could use the Bhagavad Gita as a reasoning behind their decisions.

Feng Shui my room

The Chi in my room was being blocked by all the clothes and stuff on my floor. By cleaning and organizing my room, I allowed the Chi to flow more openly and freely. By cleaning my room I balanced the Five Elements in my room better. A lot of my furniture is wooden which is brown and represents stability in my life, this includes the element Earth. I also have Water represented by my blue sheets. This represents relaxation in my life. As for my Bagua, the blue in my sheets represents wisdom and harmony in my room. The white on my door frame unblocks creativity.

I am very excited now that I have Feng Shuied my room. I think that the release of energy will help me feel and do better.I hope that I can keep it clean and organized to allow the Chi to flow throughout my room. I can already feel more positivity going into my room because I am not frustrated by the mess.

Taoist Walk

The most powerful sensation I had during this walk was a sense of peace. I have never been back on that path before. I thought the walk seemed very relaxed and quiet. I heard the sound of leaves and sticks crunching under peoples feet. It smelled like smoke while we were walking. I think since we were behind the school the smells came from Franks room. Honestly, I was thinking about how cold I was during the walk. I was also thinking about how the path had to be made around the already grown trees. I felt very calm during the walk. I think this experience can be compared to Taoism because when you’re walking, you aren’t trying. You’re letting your mind wonder. I think that Taoism is like in the sense that when you’re not trying too hard is when you are going to succeed most.
